Is this event only for central Indiana trombonists?

No.  All trombone players are welcome.  We expect participants from Fort Wayne, Toledo, South Bend, Terre Haute, Chicago, and Louisville.

What if I am a beginner?

Some of the music we perform is within the reach of beginners.  Some is more challenging, but you can learn a lot by sitting next to a more advanced player.  Most years about half the participants are school-aged students.  Advanced musicians look upon this as a brotherhood (or sisterhood) and are eager to share tips and techniques with less advanced players.

Is there a participation fee?

There are no participation fees.  We welcome donations to help us cover the costs of this program and the many other educational activities of the Phillips Music Guild.  To support our efforts, please click here.

How long has Jingle Bones been going on?

This event dates back to the early 1990s when a group of trombonists got together in Evansville, Indiana. The Jingle Bones tradition has been going strong in Indianapolis since 1998.  We look forward to helping trombonists in other communities develop Jingle Bones events in their areas.
